No more English :(
This week was kinda boring. Not many funny stories happened, but it was still a very good week. My companion and I got to give the lesson in Elder's Quorum on Sunday so that was exciting. We also went to a class on Sunday that was about baptism and repentance. The teacher was really funny so it was easy to pay attention, and he told us that if we came on our missions to plant seeds, we should go home and become a farmer instead. Our goal as missionaries should be to baptize people and bring them unto salvation instead of just "planting seeds".
On Monday night I got to listen to a bunch of conspiracy theories about the second coming because the room next to us has some missionaries that have studied a lot about it and have heard some pretty crazy things.
On Wednesday we went to the temple and got to do sealings. It was pretty awesome to be able to feel the spirit and know that I get to be with my family forever, especially because I was feeling a little homesick the day before.
Thursday was the start of full immersion, so I am only allowed to speak Portuguese, and all of our classes are on learning and speaking the language. We also got the best food the MTC serves because every other Thursday is a BBQ day so they fired up the grill for some sausage and chicken. There are starting to be fewer and fewer familiar faces and it's weird to think that there is only one more group of missionaries that leaves before I am the one that is going out to the field.
My spiritual thought for the week is a quote from President Koch, I think he is the president of the Brasil area or at least that's what the translator told us. He talked to us at a devotional on Wednesday. He said, "If we forget about the Book of Mormon and don't ponder and pray about it, our testimonies will be weakened." I loved this because as a missionary it is very important to have a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon and not let it weaken because we aren't willing to do the small and simple things like reading the Book of Mormon.
Thanks for reading my email this week. If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at benson.plaster@missionary.org.
