General Conference!!!

Image
This week started off pretty rough but got better as it went on. We got some sort of stomach bug to start the week so we had less time to work and more time than we wanted in the bathroom. It was amazing to get to finish a difficult week with General Conference.  I want to share a quote that I liked from the very first talk given by Elder Kearon. "Our service is a choice, an offer to God and a blessing." I really liked this quote because it talks about how we have agency to choose to serve God or not. It also helped me remember that all leaders in the church are just trying their best to serve God so we should have more patience with them.  Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Easter! Talk and new comp

Image
This week was pretty good. I got to give a talk on Sunday about Easter and Jesus Christ but I'll talk more about that in my spiritual thought.  This week was pretty slow because of transfers, but I have been enjoying working with my new companion. I also made cookies for first time in Brazil last week and they ended up good considering that I had to hand mix them. We also helped a dog out that got a plastic bag stuck on its head.  Because of my talk I got a little head start to my studies about Easter. I read a talk that Elder Stevenson gave a few years ago and I really like it. He talked about how the Book of Mormon contains a record of Jesus's visit in the Americas after he resurrected. I really like it and will definitely be studying 3 Nephi as well as parts of the Bible this week as it is holy week.  I wanted to share a quote from his talk that really touched me. "My dear brothers and sisters, studying regularly from this book (the Book of Mormon) about Jesus Christ w...

Transfers and service

Image
This week was awesome. We got to do 3 service projects. We had a lot of lessons.  Transfers is this week and I get to stay in Araxá for another transfer. I'm going to have a new companion though. His name is Elder Poulson. He's also been on the mission for a while and we're already friends, so this next transfer is going to be pretty great.  We played some soccer today. That's I'll that I have for today, but I hope you all are going good.  Heaven is cheering you on! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at   benson.plaster@missionary.org . Barreiro and exchanges

Image
This week was awesome. Today we went to this place called Barreiro. It’s this awesome tourist attraction with a very nice old hotel and a few lakes close by. It's a super beautiful place with lots of wildlife.  We also had exchanges this week with the Zone Leaders, so we had to travel to a different city for the 3rd straight week. It was pretty good but it did rain quite a bit.  This week we had the first branch activity in my time here and it was super fun. There weren't a lot of members there but we got some of our friends there so it was great.  I don't have enough time to share a scripture this week, but just remember that God loves you and that He sacrificed His Son for you. Hope you all have a wonderful week! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at   benson.plaster@missionary.org . Zone conference and Interviews

Image
Not a lot happened this week. We started off the week with zone conference and interviews with President. We only had time for 5-minute interviews with President, because zone conference went late and we didn't want to miss our bus. Other than that nothing special happened.  Today I want to share a scripture that I studied this week. It's in Mosiah 27:36-37. "And thus they were instruments in the hands of God in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth, yea, to the knowledge of their Redeemer. 37 And how blessed are they! For they did publish peace; they did publish good tidings of good; and they did declare unto the people that the Lord reigneth." I love this scripture because it shares what happened with other people that chose to follow God and be missionaries and leave their pasts behind them. I am so grateful for all of the blessings that I have and will receive as a missionary. I know that God will use us as instruments in His hands when we choose to serve ot...

Antônio's Baptism

Image
This week was awesome. A little less than 2 months ago we were walking in front of the bus station and a drunk guy stopped up and asked if we were bus drivers. We told him that we are missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He told us that he needed Jesus in his life so we got his phone number and his address and invited him to church.  That guys name is Antônio and this Sunday he was washed clean of his sins and baptized. His story is truly amazing and I wish I could explain everything that happened but what's most important is that his life was changed by Jesus Christ.  We got to teach him all of the lessons on the side of the road and he has really been a trooper. One day this week we visited him with a member and it started raining so we all huddled under 2 umbrellas and finished the lesson to help him be prepared. It was truly amazing to see someone be completely transformed by our Savior.  Outside of that I don't remember a lot of what happ...

24 hours of traveling

Image
Currently we are still traveling back from Goiânia. We had to travel the 12 hours there and now back to help Elder Dewey become legal in Brazil.  This week was pretty awesome. We've been able to work a lot with the members recently even though they've been super busy. We have many friends progressing towards baptism so we should have a few baptisms within the next few weeks. We are especially excited for our friend Antônio who has been progressing a lot and has already experienced many changes because of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Unfortunately I don't have any more time today but don't forget that heaven is cheering you on and you can overcome any challenge in your way. Until next week! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at   benson.plaster@missionary.org . Tchau, Elder Plaster  Antônio  Service project   Morcego (bat)
