Dragon Fruit

Image
This week was pretty good. I tried some dragon fruit for the first time today. It was pretty good.  Not a lot happened this week. We had a branch activity on Saturday and it was pretty good. There were hardly any members there so we had more than twice as many friends as members there. We have been finding a lot of new friends recently so hopefully they will continue progressing and grow closer to Christ.  I want to share a scripture that is in Doctrine and Covenants 64: 33-34. "33 Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. 34 Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days." I love this scripture because it talks about what we need to do to build up the kingdom of God. If we continue persevering and doing the small things even when we are tired or discouraged we will be immensely ...

Worms 🪱

This week was okay. We started with zone conference and it was pretty spiritual. Unfortunately, President Faria didn't have time to do our interviews, so I didn't really get to talk to him.  Afterwards we came back to Araxá and got back to work. Sadly, it was a little rough, but I found out why I've been sick for the past few weeks. I probably got some sort of worms in my stomach or intestines. I already took some medicine to get rid of them and I'm feeling better so hopefully they don't come back.  Our friend Lidiane has also been preparing to be baptized recently and we have been seeing many miracles happen recently so hopefully before I leave this area she will be baptized.  Today I want to share a scripture that I like. Its in Alma 5 : 46. "Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the L...

Throwing up

Image
This week was decent. I got sick again and threw up when we were doing exchanges with our district leader, so we lost some time because of that. We have been trying to find new people to teach because not a lot of people have been progressing recently. This week should be a good refresher because we will have Zone Conference tomorrow and then we will have the rest of the week to work in our area.  I have a part that I want to share from a talk last week. Elder Stevenson said, "In a much holier way, our Heavenly Father also places a claim upon us, not as a label on a handle but as a divine truth written on the heart: 'You are mine. I know you. You are not alone. I have not forgotten you. I intend to bring you home.' "  I love this quote because he talks about our divine label that we have as children of God. He will do anything to bring us home we just have to accept his plan. If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at  benson.plaster@missionary...

General Conference!!!

Image
This week started off pretty rough but got better as it went on. We got some sort of stomach bug to start the week so we had less time to work and more time than we wanted in the bathroom. It was amazing to get to finish a difficult week with General Conference.  I want to share a quote that I liked from the very first talk given by Elder Kearon. "Our service is a choice, an offer to God and a blessing." I really liked this quote because it talks about how we have agency to choose to serve God or not. It also helped me remember that all leaders in the church are just trying their best to serve God so we should have more patience with them.  Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Easter! Talk and new comp

Image
This week was pretty good. I got to give a talk on Sunday about Easter and Jesus Christ but I'll talk more about that in my spiritual thought.  This week was pretty slow because of transfers, but I have been enjoying working with my new companion. I also made cookies for first time in Brazil last week and they ended up good considering that I had to hand mix them. We also helped a dog out that got a plastic bag stuck on its head.  Because of my talk I got a little head start to my studies about Easter. I read a talk that Elder Stevenson gave a few years ago and I really like it. He talked about how the Book of Mormon contains a record of Jesus's visit in the Americas after he resurrected. I really like it and will definitely be studying 3 Nephi as well as parts of the Bible this week as it is holy week.  I wanted to share a quote from his talk that really touched me. "My dear brothers and sisters, studying regularly from this book (the Book of Mormon) about Jesus Christ w...

Transfers and service

Image
This week was awesome. We got to do 3 service projects. We had a lot of lessons.  Transfers is this week and I get to stay in Araxá for another transfer. I'm going to have a new companion though. His name is Elder Poulson. He's also been on the mission for a while and we're already friends, so this next transfer is going to be pretty great.  We played some soccer today. That's I'll that I have for today, but I hope you all are going good.  Heaven is cheering you on! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at   benson.plaster@missionary.org . Barreiro and exchanges

Image
This week was awesome. Today we went to this place called Barreiro. It’s this awesome tourist attraction with a very nice old hotel and a few lakes close by. It's a super beautiful place with lots of wildlife.  We also had exchanges this week with the Zone Leaders, so we had to travel to a different city for the 3rd straight week. It was pretty good but it did rain quite a bit.  This week we had the first branch activity in my time here and it was super fun. There weren't a lot of members there but we got some of our friends there so it was great.  I don't have enough time to share a scripture this week, but just remember that God loves you and that He sacrificed His Son for you. Hope you all have a wonderful week! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at   benson.plaster@missionary.org . Tchau, Elder Plaster  O Grande Hotel Capybaras Branch activity
