Baptism and last week

Image
This week was awesome. We had the baptisms of our friends Larissa and Kael. Transfers also happened and now I am in a trio with Elder Gomes and Elder Sales until I go home next Tuesday.  This week we had an awesome family night with a family where many are not baptized. Unfortunately they weren't able to come to church this Sunday, but there is hope that they will next week.  We also had some people that came to church that we were not expecting to come so that made up for the other family.  I also played soccer today for what will probably be the last time in Brazil.  This week as I have looked back at my mission I have recognized that many of the blessings and miracles that have happened to me are because of obedience and keeping the commandments. Alma 38:1 "My son, give ear to my words, for I say unto you, even as I said unto Helaman, that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep the commandme...

Another week

This week was pretty good. Not a lot happened. Ate some good food. We are planning to have some baptisms next week so that should be fun. We got transfer news and I'll be staying in a trio with my comp and another Brazilian Elder for the next 2 weeks. Hope everyone is doing well! Don't forget that God loves you! Last Zone Conference

Image
This week I had my last zone conference on the mission. It was sad to have to say goodbye to some friends and realize that I won't get to have any more spiritual zone conferences.  Brazil also lost and is out of the world cup. Everyone has been pretty sad about that as well.  Other than these few bad things our week was still pretty good and we should start seeing some more success within the next few weeks.  Remember that God loves you and that he always blesses us when we are obedient. Love you guys. If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at benson.plaster@missionary.org . Brazil!!!⚽️

This week was a little rough, but the highlights made it a lot better.  We had lunch with the stake president and his family this week. I met him at the beginning of my mission so it was fun to get to talk with him and his family.  We also got to watch the Brazil world cup games and because they played today President Faria invited all the missionaries in Goiânia to go to his apartment (outside patio area) and watch the game together. It was super fun and I got to see some of my companions that I thought I wouldn't see again on my mission.  The work here has been a little difficult recently but it's going to get better as we get the members more involved these next weeks.  Romans 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" I love this scripture because it reminds us that if we have God with us, we have the strength to do anything. Last full transfer

Image
This week was pretty tiring. We had a service project this week cleaning the house of someone who was in need. I don't think I have ever seen a house so dirty but it looked a lot better by the time we finished.  We had a p-day today with some other Elders. We played soccer and I'm feeling pretty exhausted but it was super fun. Other than transfers not much happened this week. It is a little crazy to think that this is my last full transfer and then I'll have 2 more weeks before going home.  A scripture that I read this week that is helping me to keep going is in Alma 37:34. "Teach them to never be weary of good works, but to be meek and lowly in heart; for such shall find rest to their souls." This scripture has helped me to keep on doing good things even when it's tiring and to try my best to be meek and humble and strive to keep on learning. O Ônibus quebrou 😢

This week was a little difficult, but also fun. We didn't have a lot of success in our area but we still saw a few miracles. We got transfer news and I'm going to have a new companion. His name is Elder Gomes and I already know him because he was already serving in this ward but in the other area.  It normally doesn't rain in Goiânia from May until October so we were a little surprised when we started getting rained on this week.  Our mission president also approved watching Brazil's world cup games if we are with members or friends so on Saturday we watched the game at a members house and it was a fun experience even though the game ended in a draw.  On Sunday we were on the way to church on the bus and at one of the stops the bus turned off. After about 5 minutes trying to turn it back on the bus driver manually opened the door and told us all to get off and that a different bus would come and pick us up. Unfortunately we weren't going to make our connecting bus s...

🔥 Fire 🔥

Image
This week was nice. Lately there have been a lot of fires in our area. It is really funny how nobody cares about the fires and the don't call the firefighters even if they are right next to houses or stores. They are a lot more trusting in the moisture of the plants than I am.  The world cup starts this week and Brasil is definitely ready for it. I don't think I've ever seen so many streets painted, flags, and jerseys for one event in my life. It's going to be a super cool experience being here during this time.  The work here has been progressing very slowly recently so we are going to try to focus our efforts on a few people/families and see what happens with them.  Recently I have been studying Elder Holland's talks. I started at the beginning and am about halfway through. This week I studied his talk called "Safety for the Soul". In it he talks about how the Book of Mormon will help us and protect us in these last days. He says, "Love. Healing. He...
