Elder Benson Plaster

This week was pretty crazy. I traveled to my new area and we only had to stop once when the bus broke down. Then I got to take a 40-minute Uber by myself from the bus station to pick up my companion.  My companion has been pretty sick during our time together. We've been to the hospital twice already (where h e tested positive for dengue)  so hopefully he will start feeling better this week. His name is Elder Cunha and it would be awesome if you guys could pray for him that he can heal and rest up this week.  I also got to go to p-day with President today and see some of my friends. I don't have all of the photos yet so some will get put on next weeks email.  I want to share a scripture this week for Alma chapter 8. This week was pretty good. We had the baptism of Lidiane. It was super special and her own son got to baptize her.  We got transfer news today and I'm going to be leaving Araxá. They actually are going to put Sisters in Araxá so all of the Elders are leaving. I'm going to be returning to Goiânia to serve in a ward called Ipiranga. It should be pretty fun to return to a big city, but I will definitely miss the time I had in Araxá.  Today we went and visited the Barreiro again and the capybaras.  I want to share a scripture today that I found when studying about prophets and Joseph Smith. It is in Numbers 12:6. "And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream." This scripture is very good to help us know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God because if we pray and know that the visions (especially the first) that he had are true than we can know that he was chose...

This week was pretty good. I tried some dragon fruit for the first time today. It was pretty good.  Not a lot happened this week. We had a branch activity on Saturday and it was pretty good. There were hardly any members there so we had more than twice as many friends as members there. We have been finding a lot of new friends recently so hopefully they will continue progressing and grow closer to Christ.  I want to share a scripture that is in Doctrine and Covenants 64: 33-34. "33 Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. 34 Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days." I love this scripture because it talks about what we need to do to build up the kingdom of God. If we continue persevering and doing the small things even when we are tired or discouraged we will be immensely ...

This week was okay. We started with zone conference and it was pretty spiritual. Unfortunately, President Faria didn't have time to do our interviews, so I didn't really get to talk to him.  Afterwards we came back to Araxá and got back to work. Sadly, it was a little rough, but I found out why I've been sick for the past few weeks. I probably got some sort of worms in my stomach or intestines. I already took some medicine to get rid of them and I'm feeling better so hopefully they don't come back.  Our friend Lidiane has also been preparing to be baptized recently and we have been seeing many miracles happen recently so hopefully before I leave this area she will be baptized.  Today I want to share a scripture that I like. This week was decent. I got sick again and threw up when we were doing exchanges with our district leader, so we lost some time because of that. We have been trying to find new people to teach because not a lot of people have been progressing recently. This week should be a good refresher because we will have Zone Conference tomorrow and then we will have the rest of the week to work in our area.  I have a part that I want to share from a talk last week. Elder Stevenson said, "In a much holier way, our Heavenly Father also places a claim upon us, not as a label on a handle but as a divine truth written on the heart: 'You are mine. I know you. You are not alone. I have not forgotten you. I intend to bring you home.' "  I love this quote because he talks about our divine label that we have as children of God. This week started off pretty rough but got better as it went on. We got some sort of stomach bug to start the week so we had less time to work and more time than we wanted in the bathroom. It was amazing to get to finish a difficult week with General Conference.  I want to share a quote that I liked from the very first talk given by Elder Kearon. "Our service is a choice, an offer to God and a blessing." I really liked this quote because it talks about how we have agency to choose to serve God or not. It also helped me remember that all leaders in the church are just trying their best to serve God so we should have more patience with them.  Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Easter!
