8 months and a miracle

Image
This week was very good. I'm not really sure why but it just felt a lot better. I think part of it was now I have completed 8 months/one third of my mission.  We had a mini miracle this week. We were visiting some members of the church who the missionaries had not had any contact with for a while, and we found this lady who told us she was already thinking of coming back to church recently. Unfortunately, she had to work this Sunday so she couldn't go to church, but she told us she would next week. That was the most interesting thing that happened this week.  This week I was reading in the Book of Mormon and found a part that prophesies about Jesus Christ.  1 Nephi 10: 4-6. "Yea, even six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem, a prophet would the Lord God raise up among the Jews—even a Messiah, or, in other words, a Savior of the world. And he also spake concerning the prophets, how great a number had testified of these things, concerning this Messiah,...

Short Week

Image
Not a lot happened since my last email last week, so this is going to be pretty short. We had some good lessons, but unfortunately nobody is really progressing and going to church. I've been getting used to talking to random people on the streets so hopefully we find some people with interest this week. We have been working with some members that were baptized recently and they finally came back to church so that was the bright spot of this week.  This week I thought a lot about a scripture our Mission President shared with us. It is his favorite scripture. Proverbs 3: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." I have related to this scripture a lot recently because lots of times I feel like I have no idea what I should do, but I know if I trust God and not what I think I know I will be a lot more successful and be prepared to help others do the same in their lives. I...

The Zoo

Image
I hope everyone is doing well. I'm writing on Wednesday this week because we moved our p-day so we could go to the Zoo in Goiânia. It was super fun and we got to see many animals. The Zoo had many animals that a Zoo in the US would have but also had some more native animals.  Yesterday I got to go on a division with Elder White again. Our last division was my first transfer, so I got to do a lot more this time then the first time. I also tried to learn as much as I could from him because he has lots of experience and this is his last transfer on the mission. During the division we knocked on this lady's door and tried to share a message with her. She told us she was extra terrestrial so she didn't have interest in listening to us. It was very funny and I'm not exactly sure what she meant about that.  We also had our last interviews and Zone conference with President Hancock so that was a little sad. I haven't really known him for that long, but I learned a lot from ...

Bowling and Futebol

This week was pretty chill, nothing crazy happened. Portuguese is getting easier and I don't have think as hard to understand people. When my comp wants to practice his English with me at night sometimes I get a headache from it, but I know I still need to help him because he helps me with Portuguese during the rest of the day.  I got to play some soccer with some kids in the street the other day and that was fun. Then today I got to go to the bowling alley with my zone for p-day. I didn't realize how much different it would be. All of the bowling pins were connected to strings to stand then up after they got knocked over. It was a pretty cool experience.  My spiritual thought for this week is in the Bible. Matthew 11: 28-30 " Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."  I re...
