Transfers and Baptism

This week was awesome. Yesterday we received transfer news and I will be leaving the area. It's a little sad because of all of the great people here. My next area is going to be in a different city. It is called Anápolis and the area is called Jundiaí. My new companion is going to be another American. His name is Elder Graham. I was kind of hoping for a Brazilian, but I guess I just need to be more patient. 

This week Pedro decided he was finally ready for baptism. If any of you remember his younger brother was baptized last transfer, about 2 or 3 months ago. It was such an awesome day and we had a ward Churrasco afterwards so that was a bonus. 

I got to have divisions this week and it was difficult to work because it was the last day of carnival and nobody was in the streets. I did learn a lot though from Elder Schoen and how to learn and grow from the companions I have during my mission. 

For my spiritual thought this week I want to talk a little about baptism. Baptism is what makes it possible to return to Heavenly Father. When we choose to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized, we are making our Heavenly Father proud. I am so grateful to have the opportunity every Sunday to partake of the sacrament to remember and renew the covenants I made at baptism. Hope you all have a great week! This week was a little rough. I was sick for most of the week and that made me feel even more homesick. The hot weather is still messing with my body a bit. While I was sick my brain kept on telling me I should be getting chills but it was just too hot for that to happen.  Last night we found out what would happen this transfer. I will be moving to a different area that is about 20 or 30 minutes north of Garavelo. I will be in a completely different zone of the mission though. Luckily I will have another American companion, Elder Price, so I won't be completely lost but I will have to try to force myself to learn Portuguese. We are going to be over the Goia area and it is pretty big like the Garavelo area.  This week we had district council and one of the sisters in our district is going home tomorrow so it was fun to see that if you work hard you will eventually get to go home. This week felt like forever. Packing up all my stuff just to unpack was a lot more annoying than I thought it would be. I already love the new area I am in. Elder Price is awesome. He has already helped me so much with Portuguese and being more confident in my skills.  We had a ward Christmas party and church on Sunday so I have already met a lot of the people in our ward. We share our chapel with another set of missionaries, so we got to sing with them and the little kids in our wards during the other wards primary program on Sunday.  I got to try some more interesting food this week. Someone gave us corn flavored Popsicles after we ate lunch with them one day. My brain was so confused by it because I never thought I would eat something like that. It was Elder Price's birthday this week and some members invited us over to celebrate with some cake. We have many friends that are close to baptism but sadly none of them were at church this Sunday. The Banana 🍌

T his was another long week. It was awesome though. For New Years we got to have a Churrasco with one of our favorite families of our ward. We also had lunch with them the next day and they decided one Churrasco wasn't enough so we had another one the very next day. We also played Monopoly with them because nobody wanted to meet with us.  Our ward continues to be awesome, but sadly we only got one guy to church but they did a great job helping us teach him.  At one of our lunches this week the members gave us bananas to eat. The little girl gave me a banana that had two bananas in one peel. They told me I would have good luck if I ate it, so I did. Afterwards they told me my good luck was that I would have twins.  My spiritual thought for this week is a good scripture I read this week. It is 2nd Nephi 2:24. "But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things." I like this verse because when bad things happen it is easy to get discouraged and...
