Antônio's Baptism

This week was awesome. A little less than 2 months ago we were walking in front of the bus station and a drunk guy stopped up and asked if we were bus drivers. We told him that we are missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He told us that he needed Jesus in his life so we got his phone number and his address and invited him to church. That guys name is Antônio and this Sunday he was washed clean of his sins and baptized. His story is truly amazing and I wish I could explain everything that happened but what's most important is that his life was changed by Jesus Christ. We got to teach him all of the lessons on the side of the road and he has really been a trooper. One day this week we visited him with a member and it started raining so we all huddled under 2 umbrellas and finished the lesson to help him be prepared. It was truly amazing to see someone be completely transformed by our Savior.

Outside of that I don't remember a lot of what happened this week. I know we stayed very busy with many lessons this week.

In our sunday school class we talked a lot about Genesis 19 and Lot and his wife. This applies very well to what happened with Antônio and really everyone. When we choose to follow Jesus we have to make sacrifices and leave them behind. If we look back or long for the things we left we will not be able to fully commit to Jesus. There will always be something holding us back from reaching our divine potential. So don't be afraid and choose to serve God with everything that you have.
