Batismo 🌊

Image
This week was amazing. We had a few service projects this week. The baptism of our friend Silvana. We also went on a hike to a waterfall with our district this week. We also got to go to dinner to celebrate Elder Winget's birthday and my 1 year on the mission.  The work is speeding up in our area and we are trying our best to keep up with it. A lot of other stuff happened this week but it wasn't that important.  I would like to share a scripture this week that talks a little bit about how we can find peace in this turbulent and trying world. John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." I love this scripture because it reminds us that because Jesus has over come the world we should have peace, we will still have difficulties and trials but we can overcome them. I hope you all are doing great. If you have any questions or just want to talk you ca...

1 Year!!! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸ™Œ

This week marks one year on the mission. It's passed by super fast but at the same time so many things have happened. I'm so grateful for the time I have had and will have in Brazil.  This week was a little difficult. We didn't have a lot of success to start the week but we had a lot of friends at church. We have many friends progressing towards baptism and it would be amazing if you guys could pray for them.  We also had exchanges this week so I got to work with Elder Freire and we got to find a lot of new people to teach. We also found a little alien friend on the way home.  This week I got to give a talk at church and while I was preparing for it I found a quote from Joseph Smith that I really liked. “The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to ...

Stake Conference!!!

Image
This week was super good and a little chaotic. We had zone conference and interviews this week as well as stake conference. Stake Conference was super good because we got to hear what our mission president and his wife had to tell the members here in UberlΓ’ndia. It really helped the few friends that we had there.  There wasn't a lot of time to work this week but we made the most of it. We also received air fryers this week so Elder Winget and I have been using it to make about anything we can think of.  One scripture I found well studying with my comp this week is Doctrine and Covenants 128:22. "Brethren, shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad. Let the earth break forth into singing. Let the dead speak forth anthems of eternal praise to the King Immanuel, who hath ordained, before the world was, that which would enable us to redeem them out of their pris...

Another crazy week

Image
This week was pretty good. Being district leader continues to be a crazy ride and I've been learning a lot. The mission has been flying by this transfer with all of the other responsibilities and other fun stuff going on.  I got to go on a division with one of the Zone Leaders this week. We didn't have too many confirmed lessons so we got to talk to lots of people in the road or sitting outside of their houses. I've gotten a lot more comfortable talking to random people in Portuguese.  One of the recent converts in our ward also got married this week so we got to stop by and see how different weddings are in Brazil.  This week I read a scripture that I really liked. 2nd Nephi 10: 16 "Wherefore, he that fighteth against Zion, both Jew and Gentile, both bond and free, both male and female, shall perish; for they are they who are the whore of all the earth; for they who are not for me are against me, saith our God." I love how at the end it explains that if we are no...

Another week goes by

Image
This week was a little crazy but passed by super fast. Being district leader has been fun but also doesn't leave a lot of time to relax.  The people we are teaching continue to progress and we are finding lots of new people. It's super exciting and kinda refreshing. We keep on seeing a lot of small miracles everyday. We helped an inactive member go to church this Sunday and that was super awesome.  My spiritual thought this week is from 1st Nephi 4:6. "And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do." It has been a little difficult to be district leader so far and I don't know what I am doing most of the time, but I know that as I try my best to have the spirit with me it will guide me to do the things the way God wants them done. I know that the same thing will happen in your lives as you look unto God for guidance and answers. Love you guys! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at  benson.plaster@missio...
