Food poisoning???

Image
This week was good until the weekend hit. We saw some monkeys one day this week, so Elder Coronel went and bought bananas real quick but when we returned, they were gone so we ate the bananas instead. Not many of our references have been responding to messages so we have just been visiting the few families we have been teaching and the members in our ward. We got the same food for lunch 3 days in a row this week so that was a little funny but it's one of my favorite foods, so I wasn't that mad.  Big fruit This weekend was rough because I either have food poisoning or some bacteria in my stomach that my body does not like. Not fun.     Luckily my companion has done a great job of taking care of me and the members of our ward are awesome so they literally brought medicine and lunch to our house when we couldn't leave. I am feeling better now so hopefully it continues that way. My spiritual thought for this week is Moroni 10:23. "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in...

Conspiracy Theories

This week went by very fast. All of the days just kinda blended together. The thing that stood out the most this week was our division in Trindade. Elder Santos and I got to hangout for a day. He is from Northern Brazil so he has a different accent that was a little harder to understand but after spending the day with him it is a lot easier to understand him now. While I was with him, we met a guy in the street who wanted to talk to us. Unfortunately, he didn't want to listen to us that much. He just told us all about his conspiracy theories. It ranged anywhere from we couldn't have kids because we got the covid 19 vaccine to when Donald Trump was shot, he was saved by God because he wanted him to be the president. After he told us this, I had to ask Elder Santos if I heard correctly and wasn't hearing things.  I got to play with some puppies this week. One of them was a brand-new puppy that hasn't even opened it's eyes yet. It was so cute and about the size of my h...

The First Vision

This week was super fun. It started out with divisions on Tuesday. I went with Elder Rodrigues. He is an awesome missionary. He has only been out in the field for a few weeks so I got to lead him around our area. Luckily, he is Brazilian, so we weren't completely lost as far as the language goes. He also helped encourage me with Portuguese and was impressed with how much I could talk with him for how little time I have been learning. We walked about 13 miles and were exhausted by the end of the day.  On Wednesday we played soccer with some of the youth in our ward and I realized how long it has been since I have played soccer. I wasn't completely terrible but most of the Brazilians were better than me. One day we were walking home this week and we found these huge spiders on a cactus. The biggest one was probably about the size of my palm.  On Saturday we helped with an activity for the little kids in our ward. They were setting goals for this year and learning about how the c...

Portuguese is rough

Image
This week was felt very long. I learn a little more Portuguese everyday but there are still moments when I talk and nobody understands me because of my American accent. There was a lot of walking this week. It was a little frustrating because we didn't get to teach a lot of people but the few people we did talk to seem interested.  Our members continue to be awesome but sometimes a few of them forget that we have to work, and we aren't always available to hang out with them. I saw a lot of dead animals this week so that was fun. One of our members has a friend from his mission that lives in the US so I got to speak English for like 5 minutes until I had to go back to Portuguese again.  My spiritual thought this week is a scripture that we talked about at church on Sunday. It is D and C 4:4. "For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to h...
