Weekly Email

Image
This week was pretty chill. Many people are traveling and gone because of Christmas so it was harder to find people at their houses. We finally got some friends to church so that was pretty awesome.  The highlights from this week were a ward activity, collecting mangoes, and lots of rain.  The scripture I want to share today is in the book of Mosiah 4:16. "And also, ye yourselves will succor those that stand in need of your succor; ye will administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need; and ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain, and turn him out to perish."  I love this scripture because it shows how we should love and support everyone. It has been a little difficult to love others on my mission especially when they are very different than me, but as I pray to feel the love that God has for them it becomes a little easier everyday. Hope you all have a great week! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email ...

Quick week

Image
Sorry I didn't write an email last week. P-day was pretty crazy and I didn't have enough time. Lots of stuff happened this week, but it also flew by.  I did exchanges with the Zone Leaders and the District Leader so I got to learn a lot. This random lady driving down the street this week told me I needed to go away. The members in the ward have already told me many times I've been here a long time and now the random people driving by on the street are saying it.  I know that faith is super important and will help us to grow. I had an experience this week when I didn't want to do something but I decided to use my faith to trust God that it would all work out. It ended up being a super spiritual experience for me. God loves you! If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at  benson.plaster@missionary.org . Tchau, Elder Plaster  Dinner with Awesome members  Mentorship  Rainbow

Transfer News

Image
I'm staying for a 5th transfer in this area. I'm going to stay with Elder Boxx. He is going to be my first comp I've had longer than one transfer. I also stayed 5 transfers in my first 3 areas combined and I'm entering my 5th in this area so I've almost been here for half of my mission at this point.  Not a lot happened this week. We saw a decent amount of animals. Both dead and alive. It also rained on Sunday so everyone used that as an excuse to not go to church.  The scripture I want to share today is in Jacob 6:12. "O be wise; what can I say more?" I like this scripture because the prophet Jacob giving the best advice he could. If we are wise and do the things God asks we will be blessed. It doesn't matter how difficult of a challenge we face, like staying in a transfer for a 5th transfer, if we are smart and keep the commandments God will lead us and bless our efforts.  Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving! Another Week

Image
This week was pretty rough. Elder Boxx threw up for the 3rd time this transfer. He's a warrior. It seems like every week something bad happens to him but he just keeps on going and doesn't let it affect him. He's a great example to me of the attitude I should have when I'm struggling.  We didn't have that much success this week and sadly the people that are showing the most progress weren't at church. The members are starting to help us more and it's only a matter of time before we start to see better results.  The members also threw a surprise birthday party for me tonight and it was pretty awesome. Transfers are this week and it's very possible that I will leave this ward, so it is a little sad that it was possibly the last time I will see most of them.  I would like to share a scripture I read this week in the Book of Mormon. 2 Nephi 31:21 "And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under hea...

Divisions and credit cards

Image
This week was pretty chill compared to how the transfer has been so far. We did divisions and I went with Elder Barbosa. He's a Brazilian that is in his first transfer. He wants to learn English and he already speaks pretty well so I got to help him with that. We also found 7 credit cards on the ground that were stolen from some people.  We got some friends to church and they are progressing towards baptism so we are getting excited. We also got blocked 6 times on WhatsApp this week so that wasn't really helpful. It's getting better though so we should have a great week this week.  Love you all! Another crazy week

Image
It seems like there aren't going to be any chill weeks this transfer. We got blocked 5 times on WhatsApp this week so we haven't been able to talk with many people that we need to talk to.  Elder Boxx is still surviving. He got pooped on by a bird and was throwing up again, but he continues to have a super positive attitude.  I've been learning a lot as a leader recently and seeing what I need to improve with and how I can be a better example. We have started to get more rain and it's supposed to rain almost every day this week so that will be a nice relief from the heat.  This week I want to share a scripture that is in Alma 37:37. "Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day." As a leader...

Hospital 🏥

Image
Sorry this is going to be short, but I don't have a lot of time to write today. Elder Boxx almost broke his thumb today so we spent a solid chunk of the day at the hospital. Someone tried to rob us this week with his finger gun  .  It was super funny and Elder Boxx didn't realize what the dude was saying. We got to laugh it off afterwards because it was a little scary in the moment. Sorry if I haven't responded to your emails yet. The last few p-days have been super crazy but next one I'll have time to respond. If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me at  benson.plaster@missionary.org .
