Crazy week

Image
This week was very different. We had exchanges and this drunk guy tried to argue with us about the story of Adam and Eve.  I got to say goodbye to my companion at the bus station as he returns home on Wednesday. Now I get to stay with the Zone Leaders, for the next 4 days, in a house with 5 missionaries and 1 bathroom.  Transfers are a little different with our new mission president and I won't know what's going to happen until early tomorrow morning. We also got to go to a party where there was lots of food and had a table to share Book of Mormons and other pamphlets about the church.  Always remember that God loves you and He is there to help you through all of your difficulties. All you have to do is get on your knees and pray to Him and ask for help.  I love you guys! Hope you're all doing fantastic! New president and Fire 🔥

Image
This week was very tiring. The few days we were in our area we were running around trying to visit as many people as we could.  While we were returning to Uberlândia on the bus they told us we would have to take a detour because of an accident. The next thing we knew we were driving down a dirt road with a roaring fire on one side. Luckily the bus didn't catch on fire but it definitely warmed it up.  Meeting our new president was pretty cool. He is very different than President Hancock but I'm sure it'll be good for our mission and I will learn a lot from him. This week we marked a few baptism dates and all of them have a problem with cigarettes so if you guys could pray to help them overcome this addiction I would be very grateful.  This week I was listening to the book "Saints" and I had some time to reflect on all of the sacrifices that early Saints made. The faith they had is truly incredible and inspiring. In some cases parts of their families had been killed...

Mr. Wheelchair

Image
I hope everyone is doing well. This week was pretty good. I think the highlight was when this guy in a wheelchair started following us and yelling that he loves music. He was pretty fast and kept up with us for a while. It was one of the funniest things that has happened on my mission so far.  Our new mission president arrived this week and we get to travel all night tonight to meet him tomorrow. Our bus leaves at 2 am and will arrive around 7 am. We had a lot of people tell us they were going to come to church on Sunday but sadly only one person was there. Please pray that this week they will be able to come to church.  This week I read a scripture I would like to share with you guys. D & C 130: 20-21 "There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated." I've been focusing a lot recently on being...

9 Months!!!

Image
Hey everyone. This week was pretty good. Today I hit 9 months on the mission so that is exciting. We had our last devotional with President Hancock yesterday and our new president arrives this week, so a lot of change is about to happen. This week I got to do exchanges with Elder Francisco. We found some new people for them to teach.  This week I got to study more about the restoration of the church and what Joesph Smith did for us. Because of him we have the Book of Mormon, the priesthood, and the same church that Christ had in the New Testament. I am so grateful for the knowledge and testimony I have of these things. They truly are some of the most important things we have to learn and have spiritual experiences with. I hope you all are doing well! Another long week

Image
This week felt pretty long. My companion traveled to Goiânia on Wednesday so I got to chill with Elder Francisco. He arrived in the mission the same time as me so it was good to get to know him a little better and teach with him in his area.  This week was a lot of work and not a lot of success, so that was a little frustrating, but we got a lot done that we needed to. I got sick on Friday night so the last few days have been a little rough, but I am starting to feel better.  This week I would like to share a scripture that I really like. Alma 5:13 "And behold, he preached the word unto your fathers, and a mighty change was also wrought in their hearts, and they humbled themselves and put their trust in the true and living God. And behold, they were faithful until the end; therefore they were saved." I like this verse because it talks about this mighty change of heart. Sometimes I wish that I and the people I'm teaching would have this mighty change of heart and instantly...

New Area

Image
This week was really good. My new area is super big so I get to walk and take the bus a lot this transfer. My new companion is awesome. His name is Elder Rafael and this is his last transfer, so he goes home to Rio de Janeiro in about 5 weeks. So far everything has been great. The bus ride wasn't too bad although we did arrive at midnight. We have this giant park really close to our house that we visited today. It has a lake that had some capybaras that we saw. We also had an uber driver this week that lived in the US for a while and spoke English. I got to hear about his crazy stories about passengers that tried to rob him or a lady that almost gave birth in his car. Outside of that this week was pretty chill.  This week I want to share a scripture about service. Mosiah 2:17 "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." I really live this scri...

Transfers!!!

Image
Hey everyone! This week was a little crazy, but we survived. We got transfer news last night and I am going to move to a new city. It is called Uberlândia and the area I'm going to is called Tibery. I will travel there this Wednesday and it will be the longest I have traveled so far. Hopefully I can sleep on the bus.   This week we got to work with Kainã for a day and I got to say goodbye to him. We also had a ward activity this week. Sadly, not many people were there, but we still had a little fun.  The scripture I have to share this week is Moroni 7:18. "And now, my brethren, seeing that ye know the light by which ye may judge, which light is the light of Christ, see that ye do not judge wrongfully; for with that same judgment which ye judge ye shall also be judged." This week I noticed I was struggling to not judge people because of a few struggles that were happening in our ward. Luckily I found this scripture while studying and realized that nobody is perfect. When w...
